MIDDLE SCHOOL FFA MEMBERSHIP

The National FFA Association allows students who are enrolled in 7th and 8th grade agricultural education classes to become dues paying FFA members. These students are allowed to join FFA in Idaho, but do not enjoy all membership privileges accorded to high school members. These restrictions are as follows:

  1. They are not eligible to attend and participate in state level career development events or leadership activities.

  2. They may not earn points toward state degrees and awards until their 9th grade year in school.

  3. FFA districts may determine locally those activities in which middle/junior high school FFA members are eligible to participate.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE FFA FOR STUDENTS NOT ENROLLED IN AN AGRICULTURE CLASS

FFA is a component of an agricultural education program. The conditions for membership are defined in the National FFA Constitution in Article V – Membership. If a student does not meet the provisions of the National FFA Constitution (Article V. Membership) they cannot be a member of the FFA. The FFA is not a "club" to be joined separate from an instructional program. If a student is not enrolled in an agricultural course at school, a planned course of study must be developed if membership is desired.  If it is the intention of a student and/or parent for the student to be an FFA member without enrolling in an agricultural course or following a planned course of study, I would refer them to the 4-H program.

FFA MISSION - The FFA Mission is, “FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for Premier Leadership, Personal Growth and Career Success through agricultural education.
