This program provides training to farmers, ranchers, and dairymen in southeast Idaho. The program is designed in a four-year format with participants attending 3.5 hours once a week for 18 weeks during the fall and winter months. Participants can choose from among six locations to meet the time schedule that best fits into their busy schedules.
This program has a history of recruiting nontraditional students. Strong relationships have been formed with the extension educator at Fort Hall to facilitate service to Shoshone-Bannock tribal members. Additionally, the focus on female enrollment is so strong that spouses are encouraged to attend this program at no additional cost.
Participants receive half their training as theory, and half as computer applications. The format of this program has resulted in a consistent enrollment level approximately 200 percent of the national average.
