Obtaining a Copy of Your GED transcript

Our office is only able to produce transcripts for GED tests completed in the state of Idaho. If you completed all or part of your GED outside of Idaho, please see the section at the bottom of this page. If you need a copy of your High School Equivalency Certificate, please contact our office directly at (208) 429-5522.

To receive a copy of your GED transcript you will need to fill out and sign a Transcript Release/Request form. You can either bring this form to our office or send it through the mail. If you mail your request, be sure to sign you name and include a self-stamped envelope with the application that includes the address of the school, company or institution, etc., where you wish the transcript(s) sent. Please PRINT. We cannot process this prequest if it is illegible. Idaho does not charge for GED Transcripts

Requests can be mailed to the following address:
Attn: ABE/GED
Division of Professional-Technical Education
PO Box 83720
Boise, ID 83720-0095

Physical Address:
650 West State St, Room 324

We will respond to ALL mailed transcript requests as quickly as possible. If we do not have a record of a particular GED we will send you a letter stating such. Given the large number of requests that are processed through our office, we do not follow up on mailed requests over the phone. Please allow for mailing and processing time when planning for your transcript.

Because of privacy of information regulations and state policy:

  • We do not
    • accept faxed transcript request forms
    • verify GEDs over the phone
  • We do
    • accept walk-ins in our office, if you bring a government-issued photo ID
    • accept mailed transcript request forms
    • fax or mail your transcript to a third party if indicated on the transcript request form
    • want to help you, so please call us if you are unsure about how to request your transcript or have any questions.

If you completed all or part of your GED outside of Idaho

If you completed your GED testing outside of Idaho, you will need to contact the State in which you completed the GED for your transcript.

If you took part of your GED testing in another state and would like to finish your testing in Idaho, or you did part of your testing in Idaho and would like to complete the GED in another state, you will need your scores transferred. For information about transfering scores, and how long scores remain valid, please contact our office at 208-334-3216 for more information.
