Carl D. Perkins Act
Career and Technology Education Act
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act was first authorized by the federal government in 1984 and was most recently reauthorized in August 2006. The Perkins Act is structured to provide an increased focus on the academic achievement of career and technical education students, strengthen the connections between secondary and postsecondary education, and improves state and local accountability. Perkins funding supports career and technical education that prepares students both for postsecondary education and the careers of their choice.
