New Program Appr oval
Notice of Intent
The Notice of Intent (NOI) is most often used to add a new program or change an existing program. The NOI is also used to inactivate or terminate a program, or reallocate funds or FTP when the fiscal impact exceeds $250,000 per year.
Subsequent to institutional review and consistent with institutional and state policies, the NOI is submitted to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of the State Board of Education (SBOE). The CAO forwards professional-technical education requests to the Division prior to SBOE review. The NOI is not used to report non-substantive changes because routine changes are no longer reported to the SBOE. Additional information on program approval policy and procedures may be found in the Idaho State Board of Education Governing Polices and Procedures, Section III, Postsecondary Affairs, Subsection G, Program Approval and Discontinuance, paragraph 4 and 5. You may access the Policies and Procedures Manual on the SBOE site. NOI forms may be obtained by selecting either of the following links: (PDF 65K) (Doc 60K)
All NOI requests for new programs or new certificates, degrees or options must include the Attachment B, Scope and Sequence.
Attachment B, Scope and Sequence, is used with all notices of intent. The form lists the individual courses and credit hours that make up the approved program. Course descriptions and outcomes are included for new courses that have not been previously approved. You may select the following link to access the Attachment B form (PDF 10K 7/99) (Doc 88K 7-99).
