Improving Academic Achievement through Professional-Technical Education

The Division of Professional-Technical Education, in collaboration with the University of Idaho and Idaho State University, is offering a course for PTE educators and their academic counterparts to improve their students’ academic achievement.

This course is designed to:

  1. Develop classroom curricula that highlights the academic content & teaches directly to Idaho’s core academic standards

  2. Integrate reading, writing and/or math into any PTE course or program area.

  3. Offer a learning environment that is flexible and convenient for the adult learner

  4. Create integration strategies and activities to be developed and shared amongst participants

Course Credit Options

Professional Development Credits:  PTTE 405/505
1-2 Credit Course: Introduction to Integration
Held twice per year: once in conjunction with Summer Conference, and once during an in-service day (TBD by institution)

Academic Course Credits: PTTE 404
Course Option 1 Course Option 2*:

The following will be taught by adjunct faculty during Fall/Spring semesters

3-Credit Hybrid:

  • 45hrs/semester: combination of face-to-face and online discussion, activities, and assignments

 

  • Face-to-Face times are left to the discretion of the instructor and students

The following will rotate during Idaho teacher in-service days:

Three 1-Credit:

1-Credit: Integrate Reading: Approach and Delivery Concepts

  • 8 hr face-to-face plus additional coursework

1-Credit: Integrate Language Arts: Approach and Delivery Concepts

  • 8 hr face-to-face plus additional coursework

1-Credit: Integrate Mathematics: Approach and Delivery Concepts

  • 8 hr face-to-face plus additional coursework
