MEETING WITH INTERESTED PARTIES
Once you have reviewed the results of the student interest survey, business survey, Idaho employment data, considered initial start-up costs, and have the support of your school board administration, counselors, and faculty, you will need to have a meeting with local construction company leaders and other interested community leaders (i.e., Chamber of Commerce, Job Service, etc.) to share with them the overall findings of your data gathering.
Part of this discussion must be about your overall instructional strategies, the internship with its legal measures, as well as start-up and sustaining cost challenges just to name a few. The purpose of this meeting will be to gather overall community support for your Construction Program and an initial commitment for potential advisory committee membership, mentors, financial or instructional supplies, donations, etc.
This meeting must be well designed and implemented. Topics that come up at such meetings might include:
- What are the legal issues?
- What will my son or daughter gain by participating in the Construction Program?
- Will there be additional costs to the student?
- Will my son or daughter be able to use these classes for work or to go on to college?
- As a participating business what skill sets will these students have?
- What legal responsibilities will my business have if I help a student?
- Etc.
You will need to review this website guide completely before this meeting in order to answer some of the most critical questions.
