Student Leadership Opportunities and Technical Student
Organizations -- Skills USA Idaho.
A high student participation rate in a leadership organizations is expected. The organization, usually SKILLS USA, will promote leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. Participation builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes, and communication skills. SKILLS USA will emphasize total quality work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride and dignity of work. SKILLS USA will encourage students to compete at local, state, and national competitions. SKILLS USA will be career-oriented with special emphasis on job development skills. Members will have a sense of direction, a desire to succeed, and recognition that hard work is essential to both their personal and professional success.
There will be an advisor(s) for your SKILLS USA Association to assist students with weekly meetings, fundraisers, competitions, community activities, career fairs, orientations, and field trips. Post-secondary students might serve as mentors for the secondary students, assisting them with mock competitions and fundraisers. The leadership clubs identified for Construction is as follows:
SKILLSUSA - For students enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled and service occupations, and health occupation education programs at the secondary and post-secondary levels.
