Skilled and Technical Sciences Best Practices

Skilled and Technical Sciences has set a long-term goal creating a ‘best practices’ program that includes sharing ideas, projects, and lesson plans.

In recognition that all the best practices in the world will not matter unless they are used, our definition of educational best practice is: “An instructional practice that works so well that other teachers are motivated to try to incorporate it into their own practice.”  This is what we strive to do with this website, to find and share instructional practices that other teachers might incorporate.

I will seek best practices that are applicable at three levels: across all STS programs, within career clusters, and to a specific program.  Best practices that apply across all STS programs are often ways to fund and administer PTE programs. Best practices that apply within career clusters are most often student, teacher, or program recognition; or integration of academic and PTE instruction. Best practices that apply to a specific program may be lesson plans, shop activities, or unique integration efforts.
