SkillsUSA offers leadership, citizenship, and character development programs as well as activities to complement skill training available in the public schools and postsecondary institutions. It helps students to better prepare themselves for the labor market. SkillsUSA emphasizes respect for the dignity of work, high standards in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety.  It promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and encourages development of patriotism through the practice of democracy in the chapter. Professional development, leadership, and total quality management practices are emphasized.
